RS Aero

The lightweight single hander

The RS Aero has been sailed at Bowmoor since the class began in 2014. There are currently 26 at the club, sailed by a whole range of sailors, both men and women, of all ages. We have a highly knowledgeable fleet and regular training. 

ILCA (formerly Laser)

The classic racer

An affordable modern classic, the most popular adult racing dinghy of all time. The ILCA offers 3 rigs for sailors of all sizes. The ILCAs at Bowmoor sail in one of the two handicap fleets and sailors can initially choose which rig they use with the appropriate handicap rating based on the Portsmouth Yardstick.


One design high-performance

The Phantom is a one-design high performance epoxy dinghy with a PY handicap of 1002. It has a powerful stayed high modulus mast supporting a 9.75m² sail making it a fast and exciting dinghy that suits larger sailors in the weight range 85-130kg. Older versions are also sailed at Bowmoor with a reduced handicap of 1048. There is a good regional circuit and the nationals attract 50-60 boats annually.


One-design racing class

A simple and easy to sail one design racer. The supernova supports a powerful stayed on a stable epoxy hull. With an excellent national circuit and good local competition, it is a popular choice.

The tactical racer

The National Solo is an all time classic, with unparralled fleet racing in the UK and a stable forgiving design, the Solo offers extremely close tactical racing for all.

The Comet is a small, light, singlehander dinghy that offers exciting and rewarding sailing. Whether you’re close racing with other Comets or simply sailing for fun, the Comet appeals to an amazing range of people, young or not so young.
