Description

Sign up for the 2025 Bowmoor Sailing Club Camp, running from Wednesday 28th May to Friday 30th May, followed by the YOO Youth Regatta on Saturday 31st May.

For 2025, booking is open to all members and guests of members, both youths and adults who have passed RYA Stage 2 or above. Bookings should be made by the boat being sailed, and sailors will be assigned to groups based on skill level and class of boat.

Youth sailors are expected to have attended club organised Youth training in advance of camp, or attended a winter youth squad at Bowmoor in 2024/2025 prior to camp.

All sailors and parents are invited and encouraged to camp at Bowmoor for the duration of camp. There will be evening social events and entertainment each evening.

Groups for Camp 2025 will be as follows. Where there are a large number of bookings for a group, we may set up additional groups:

  • Beginners Mixed Fleet Group (For those who have recently completed RYA Stage 2)
  • Intermediate RS Tera Group (For those who have sailed for at least one year)
  • Advanced RS Tera Group (For those who regularly race)
  • Teenager Racing Group (For those who race Bytes, Laser or Aeros)
  • Adult Group (Post RYA Level 2)

Sailors will be allocated to groups once the standard booking period closes, at midnight on 28th March. Late bookings may be possible where there is group availability, but will attract a late entry fee of £20. Bookings made after 10th April may not receive a hoodie in time for camp.

The format will involve coaching from 9:00-15:00 each day, with coached racing 15:00-17:00. Racing will also be open to other members each day, so that all members of the family including parents can get on the water. We hope to be able to offer a selection of parent activities throughout the week. During events there will be catering options, evening activities for kids and the bar will be open. The final schedule for camp will be published once numbers are finalised.

Use of a club boat for any of the above groups will incur a charge of £5 per day, included in the booking fee.

The fee for camp includes a branded hoodie.

Camp bookings are non-refundable after 28th March, and must be paid by the closing date of bookings on 28th March.

FAQs

Q: What is included in the fee?

A: Every sailor will get three days of sailing coaching alongside a Camp hoodie. Extra waste disposal will be provided and we encourage attendees and their families to camp on site.

Q: I pay the annual subscription for use of club boats, do I have to pay the £15 fee to use a club boat?

A: Yes, whilst paying the annual subscription for club boats allows you to use a club boat, it does not guarantee use of a club boat at busy events. This fee guarantees use of a club boat for the full 3 days of camp. This is important as there are more people who pay for access to club boats than there are club boats available. If you do not pay the fee, it is likely a club boat will not be available for you at camp this year.

Q: What coaches will be at camp?

A: Bowmoor will use a range of fully qualified RYA club coaches, who will remain with their group for the duration of the week.

Q: Will sailors be with their usual coach from Youth coaching?

A: Where possible, groups will be allocated to their coaches from youth coaching. However, due to the time of the year, some coaches may be unavailable.

Q: Are meals included?

A: No meals are included at camp, but the Galley will be open, and there will be catering options/BBQs will be lit during evenings.

Q: Can I leave my child on site?

A: A responsible adult should be present on site at all times for sailors under 12 years of age.

Q: How do the clothing sizes work?

A: Please see the Clothing Size Guide
