Come and Try 2025 – Saturday 7th June

What is Come and Try?

If you’re interested in giving sailing a go, then come to Bowmoor on one of our Come and Try days, where you can go out with an experienced helm to get a taste. You’ll also get a chance to chat to members of the club (all ages!) to find out more – whether it’s social sailing, enjoying the fresh air on a fine day or competitive racing.

We also cater for windsurfing, open water swimming, paddle boarding and canoeing. There will be people to talk to about all of these other activities throughout the day

When is Come and Try?

Our Come and Try Day will be on Saturday June 7th 2025, 10.30 until 15.30.

Do I need to sign up for Come and Try?

There is no need to sign up in advance for come and try day. Please just turn up between the published times, and one of our experienced helms will take you out on the water.

New for this year, we will also be running a bookable session for youth sailors who would like to give sailing in their own boat a go. We will run 2 sessions starting at 10:00am and 1:00pm, which can be booked below.

What should I bring for Come and Try?

Please bring a change of clothes, and wear something that you are happy to get wet in. Bowmoor will provide all attendees with buoyancy aids.

Those taking part in the Youth Session may also borrow a club wetsuit.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Please still come along! We will endeavour to get you out on the water, but in the unlikely event that it is not possible due to bad weather, we will have a number of talks and activities available in the clubhouse.

I’m an existing member, can I get involved?

Support the club by volunteering your time to show people around the club and facilities. If you are an instructor, please volunteer to sail our guests around the lake.
