50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend & 8 Hour Race
This year Bowmoor Sailing Club celebrates it 50th anniversary. The club will celebrate our anniversary over the weekend 27th/28th June 2026, with a fully packed agenda to celebrate, both on and off the water.
The celebration will start on Saturday 27th June with the 8 hour race. This event will see teams of competitors compete in a continous race for 8 hours, switching crews regularly.
On Saturday evening Bowmoor will host the official 50th Anniversary party, where the bar will be open and we have brought in food truck The Rub BBQ to cater for our members.
The club is subsiding food for members from £16 per head to £7.50 – please book in advance there will not be an option to purchase food from the food truck on the evening.
On Sunday, there will be an anniversary swim in the morning, an celebration race at 12:00, and a cream tea in the afternoon. If you’d like to attend the cream tea, this is free for members, but you MUST sign up for a ticket in advance so that we can cater for numbers.
At this point, it is not possible to book guest tickets for non-members. We will review this closer to the event once we have initial booking numbers, to ensure that all of our members get the opportunity to join the event. Visiting members from Avon Sailing Club taking part in the 8 Hour Race will be considered temporary members for the duration of the weekend.

Saturday 27th June: Endurance & Celebration The weekend kicks off with a test of stamina and teamwork on the water, followed by our flagship social event of the year.
- 10:00 – 8-Hour Race Briefing
- 10:30 – The 8-Hour Race Begins
- 18:00 – Food Service: The Rub BBQ begins serving
- 18:30 – The 8-Hour Race Finishes
- 19:00 – The 50th Anniversary Party Starts
- 20:00 – The Grand Cake Cutting
Sunday 28th June: Reflections & Traditions A more relaxed pace for our second day, perfect for catching up with friends old and new.
