Supernova Winter Championship 2020

On Saturday February 22nd, Supernova dinghy class racing kicks off the year at Bowmoor with the Winter Championships.
The Class is holding four championship events this year and Bowmoor is considered to be one of the best inland sailing clubs in the UK. Lots of prizes, top class racing for all, with current Champions expected to be in attendance. 2019 was won by our very own Charlie Sansom in a borrowed boat, beating both expert Merlin sailor Matt Biggs (Blithfield) and current National and Inland Champion Cliff Milliner (Cotswold) in second and third spot respectively. Let’s see if he can do it again (if he can find a boat).
We’re expecting a turnout of around 40 boats. If the weather conditions are right, expect a lot of tough but friendly competitive sailing. There will be undoubtedly some good photo opportunities and a chance to see the Supernova in action if you are interested in it.
Entry Fee: Entry is on the day from 09h00 with a fee of £20 payable at the registration desk (cash only). The registration fee includes tea/coffee on arrival and a hot lunch with vegetarian meal option (please advise in advance).
Schedule: Three 45 minute races are scheduled for the event, with two results to count. A competitors’ briefing will be held in the club house at 10h30. Start times will be approximately as follows:
• 1st Race start: 11h00
• 2nd Race start: as soon as possible after 1st Race (back-to-back)
• 3rd Race start: 14h00
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 10h55.
A ‘5-4-1-0’ starting sequence will be used.
