On the 9th May we heard the sad news that life long Bowmoor member, Bob Fry, passed away just before his 99th Birthday. Bob's Son, Dave, wrote to Bowmoor with the news, I've included his email below.
Quoting Bob directly from the Wiltshire and Gloucester Standard "Although I have to choose my weather carefully these days, I still think sailing is a very enjoyable and relaxing way to spend my time." He made a great point, lets keep this Bowsprit short, follow Bob's lead, and go outside to enjoy!
In a more usual update, please see the boat park news from John Murrell below. Thanks to John and all boat park users, it’s looking much better now that much of the junk has been removed. Lets keep going with this!
This weekend is RS’s 30th anniversary at HISC so many members will be travelling. At the club we still have member coaching, RYA level 2, HOP and Club racing taking place over the weekend; much to look forward to and the weather looks reasonable again .
Driving on the Grass: We’re going to allow driving on the grass from today, but be very careful where you drive. Stay 20 meter’s from the lake everywhere. A heavy white camper van went on the grass on Sunday (clearly not a Bowsprit reader so they can take a two tack & two gybe penalty) and sank into the grass. Fortunately they were able to drive away as nothing would have got it out.
Remember the club rules: No parking within 25 meters of the western shoreline, and no parking inside 5 meters of or within the boat park.
See you at the club! |
