Last weekend we hosted the RS300 Open. The RS300 was first produced in 1998 and while new hulls can be built to order it’s no longer possible to buy a complete boat. This has made the boat really accessible to our younger Bowmoor sailors and Matt Banbrook organised a fantastic open event.
We hosted 18 competitors over 6 races through Saturday and Sunday morning. Charlie Sansom as Race officer ran back to back races from 12:00 so that we had member access to the lake through out Saturday morning. While conditions on Saturday were perfect, Sunday was very different. With the wind fluttering between 3 and 4 knots the decision was finally made to race at 10:15 when it built to 5 knots. This didn’t hold through the day and by Club racing we struggled to hold one race. Many thanks to John Banbrook as OOD for persevering!
Next weekend is the University Windsurfing Event on Saturday and Sunday so the club will be busy. The lake will be open as usual, but on Sunday Club Racing will start early at 10:30.
May’s Bowmoor Sailing Camp: Please note that the early booking discount is ending on the 15th March when prices will go up. Get your booking in now as we are getting down to the last few places (just 11 are left). |
