Bowmoor Sailing Club
Bowsprit 17th January 2024

Commodore's Note

A poor forecast was again proven wrong and Bowmoor experienced a full winter weekend of sailing in cool sunshine.  Although still light, Sunday gave more wind than forecast. OOD Chris Jenkins made the best of the conditions sending the fleet out for two good races.

On Saturday, six Byte and seven Tera sailors ventured out onto the lake to train in our Winter Squads.  The weather was bright and clear with steady wind through the day.

Tom and I also dismantled the Scarlet Woman ready for recycling, many thanks to Andy Marshal for his help and good humoured support!  The old committee boat was certainly the toughest part of the recycling needed, so it's great to have that completed.

We rounded off the weekend with a well attended meeting discussing Club House requirements.  The next sessions are Sunday 21st at 15:30 and Sunday 28th at 10:00.

Boat Disposal Work Party - 20th Jan

Our final boat recycling day will be on Saturday when we’re removing dead boats from the boat park.  We do need your support; please gather at the club for 9am to form the work party.

Clubhouse Update - Sale Rail

Thank you to everyone who supported the sale rail. It’s very popular and as such we have more items than we can accommodate in the clubhouse.

Please can members remove any items
from the sale rail by 31st January.

Anything left over will be donated to charity. The next sale rail will be held during the week of Sail Camp at the end of May.

In the meantime, you can advertise your items on the Bowmoor website from the button below.

Winter Squads

The Winter Squad coaching is available for members who are expecting to sail Bytes or Teras at club racing, open meetings, or national competitions throughout the year.  Hopefully some of our squad members will be attending the Oxford Blue Sailjuice event on February 17th.
