It was a shame that we could not attract visitors to support the Aero Bubble on Saturday and we opened the lake for general sailing. Maybe light winds deterred traveller; however, we still saw 17 of our own Aero helms to come out for a training event. As David Nunn ran the committee boat, Buzz provided on-water coaching. This was preceded by another burst of work on the new committee boat and some testing during the afternoon. It also set the scene for a lively evening in the Clubhouse.
Sunday was a day of glassy water and drizzle. No racing was achieved, in fact no dinghies launched all day and some early faces melted away as the hours ticked on. This made me nervous of getting a quorum to be able to hold the Annual General Meetings. In the end we just met the numbers for the Sailing Club meeting but no the Supporters Club which will be reset of 4 weeks’ time.
Minutes will be forthcoming along with a survey to assess the wider views on altering dog access to the Clubhouse. The committee appointments were confirmed with Simon Hinnigan taking over as Commodore and I will move across to Rear Commodore Sailing. We will complete a handover in the next fortnight. This could be the last Bowsprit I draft after a run of around 250 editions.
