Apologies for late issue due IT issues.
We are enduring the autumnal lull and storm cycle. Our youth training on Saturday was a study of light wind sailing, the swimmers then enjoyed the almost non-existent wind on Sunday morning, but as more light rain came in so did some wind. The conditions were consistent with so many Remembrance Parades across cold soggy ground that sucked the heat away through now damp leather-soled parade shoes with toecaps buffed to a mirror finish. The two races provided enough to work the boats up and down wind rewarding those who chased the varying breeze best. It was a good turn out given the weather and the national event of the day.
The use of the old committee boat made a major difference to the racing providing a long first beat and flexibility in the overall course. The Scarlet Lady never really recovered from a brief period as an unintentional submersible. The woodwork and glass fibre has absorbed water and algae has discoloured all external surfaces. Fortunately, we will be retiring he old lady very soon once our new committee boat returns from an engine refit and rigging installed. Our intention is that this will become the primary start facility for all racing with the race hut as secondary.
Just a heads up, this coming weekend we have 30+ Tera sailors from the S&SW Squads attending training at Bowmoor. We’ll do our best to encourage good parking discipline to ensure we still have space to park in and their programme fits round our club racing.
Don’t forget that if you wish to submit Any Other Business for the AGM it needs to be done by the weekend. |
