The last planned Youth Otters and Sprint Series were staged on Saturday and attracted good support. The racing in the afternoon saw some very close matchups and good performances and improvements from those who were relatively new to competitive sailing. The short race format provided plenty of opportunities without becoming a bit of an endurance test. The activities continued onshore in the evening as we gathered for the Halloween Party. There were some fantastic costumes, amazing cakes, well-carved pumpkins and many games to participate in. Thanks to Tash Tustin for getting this all organised and to all those who made cakes and pumpkin lanterns.
The Youth Training dates for next year are posted on the noticeboard and within the WhatsApp group. That does not mean you have to stop sailing until the Spring; just take the opportunities when the weather is good and before the water gets too cold.
Sunday started with perfect conditions for swimming with a glasslike surface over the lake; however, the water temperature is dropping and likely to continue to do so as we get more rain. The wind slowly picked up and the race team were able to provide two good races for the 30-plus sailors who ventured out.
If you are avoiding the current news, please check out the weather forecast because we are in for a bad storm this week. |
