Summer has made a welcome return making the last weekday sailing course all the more pleasant for all participants. Strange how young sailors, initially worried about falling in seem to want to spend their spare time in the water once we have covered capsize drills.   It’s been another fantastic training season and the one consistent theme has been the praise lauded on our young instructor team.   I must also commend Nigel Fletcher for his dedication making sure everything was in place to deliver all the courses and negotiate the annual RYA inspection. 

There is a minimum of one weekend course and Race Coach course before the end of sail training programme for 2023.  Our youth programme will roll on as will power boat course.  Some of these courses need to be scheduled around the Byte and Comet Open meeting in late September.  On the back of this out membership numbers have exceeded 2022 totals.

Make the most of what is left of the summer; you never know when we'll get another one!

You may recall that at the last AGM a condition was applied to permitting boats to be berthed at Bowmoor; the byelaws and rules were amended accordingly, and notification was sent will all membership renewals.   The Boat Park team have been monitoring boats throughout the year and have a list of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes that have clearly not been used this year.  The owners of such craft will be notified that their permission to store a boat at Bowmoor will be withdrawn at the end of this membership year.  If you have a valid reason why you have decided not to use your boat this year, you need to contact the Boat park Manager.   

Please also note that you are responsible for maintaining the grass around your berths unless you have arranged otherwise by paying the maintenance fee.
