Commodore's Note

Another gusty and wet weekend put pay to Saturday's Youth Sprint but the Otters were still able to get some water time before is got really inclement. The poor conditions persisted into Sunday and after a relatively calm start to the day for the open water swimmers, the racing endured very shift and gusty conditions all day. It proved to be a wet and exhausting experience and the fleet dwindled race by race.

On Monday we were set for the first of the summer RYA courses with 7 adults and 12 youth novices embarking on their dinghy sailing journey. After a damp start there has been two solid days of training where everyone has made impressive progress and appeared to revel in the experience.  At the same time we hosted an Open Water Safety Course with another 12 candidates across a wide age spectrum. This has gone down very well with those who attended ad there was plenty of mirth both in and off the water. There are sailing courses every week until September, so the Club is likely to be busy every day and that has to be a good thing.

News and Events
Hire Boats

Last Wednesday or Thursday one of our Teras was abandoned in the Training Park with the rudder left on, the sail screwed up and left in the boat with the cover loosely covering the neglect.  This was either someone who rents a youth boat or just took the chance to use it and did not know how to pack it up properly or where to put things away, and certainly no parent checking up on what their offspring were doing.  This is unacceptable and could result in individuals losing the privilege of boat rental.

Please respect and look after our Club assets.
