We have just  navigated the first of the May Bank Holidays and it was a busy one for the Club.  Saturday saw 117 visitors attend our Come and Try day and we hope that will transfer to new sailing memberships and courses.  Coincidently it was also the second Otters, Youth Sprint event and Tera Training session so our guests saw a hive of activity and enjoyed unexpected sunshine.  Monday was the Beryl Edmunds Cup and in relatively light but very shifty conditions Mark Hitchmough and the Team got the 3 races away.  Toby Banbrook posts a very impressive 1st in each race to win the event with Sam Fewings in 2nd and Dave Lynall 3rd, Aeros closing out the podium.  Full results are now published on the website.   As if to taunt us, the sun came out as soon as we were all off the water; let's hope we see it again next weekend. 

YOO hope to have the new visitors centre open by next weekend.  We ask that Club members visit this on foot and do not enter of leave the lake from the shore by the centre.  This it to ensure visitors do not think that there is public access to the lake.  

Monday 8th May Coronation Cup: Celebrating 2023’s additional Coronation bank holiday we will be holding team racing on Monday 8th. Teams will be randomly selected on the morning and compete in a series of 3 races, please sign-on by 11am. We will aim to crown the winning team on the day!

We will have Stoud Keg beer on offer from the Bar this weekend. Cheers!

Saturday May 13th is the first Cruising Saturday, Ladies who Launch and Social Sailing day of 2023.  With weather improving and the water warming to match, this is an ideal time to get back in your boat.  These Saturdays are really popular, informal, and led by groups of members.  A power boat will be launched and can support with coaching as requested.  People start to gather from 11 am, agree a plan, sail together, and end the day with cake and drinks on the deck (Prosecco optional!).  All members are very welcome!.  

The Galley is planning Fish and Chips for Wednesday night racing;  please book before you launch.

The Galley also has a vacancy for a part-time kitchen hand for weekends, and Wednesday evenings over the summer.  Please contact dave@hackettsgroup.co.uk for details

Please make the effort to put your 2023 boat stickers on your dinghy/canoe/board or the trailer as  soon as you can.  These were sent to you when you renewed your membership in October or when you joined after that date.  You may find a label on your boat when the Boat Park team cannot identify the owner of the craft 5 months after sticker were issued.    If there are unregistered craft in the Boat Park, the Club will be obliged to pursue the legal disposal route.
