Bowmoor Sailing Club
Bowsprit - 5th March 2025
Commodore's Note

by Simon Hinnigan

Welcome to Spring at Bowmoor Sailing Club

It certainly feels like spring is here and it brings with it a renewed sense of activity at the club!  Despite our enthusiasm and last weekend’s sunshine, we were met with a complete absence of wind.  So we welcomed new members and enjoyed a relaxing and sunny few days.

The lack of wind cancelled the planned Supernova open which will be rescheduled once we coordinate with the class association.

We’ve also added an RS Tera Open on August 30th for our youth.

Please look at the headlines below for special timings for March Sunday Racing, Sailwave training and the RYA Regional Training Day for Instructors on April 26th.

Most importantly, Tash Tustin has opened bookings for Camp 2025, see her note below.

See you at the club,

Simon

Special timings for March Sunday Racing

Throughout March, the club is hosting a number of weekend events. To make sure everything runs smoothly, we've made a few tweaks to our Sunday racing schedule.

- On Sunday 9th March, club racing will start at 12:30pm and will be run back-to-back. This follows on from the Byte/RS300 open meeting which will see two back-to-back races starting at 10:30am.

-On Sunday 23rd March, club racing will start at 10:30am and will be run back-to-back. This takes place before day two of the Student Windsurfing Nationals taking place that afternoon.

Sailwave Training

On Sunday 23rd March, we will be running a Sailwave training session. Sailwave is the software used to calculate racing results, and is used for both club racing and open meetings. The training will focus on the basics of using Sailwave to calculate racing results, and will give you the skills you need to assist with the results at club open meetings. If you are planning to attend, please could you let Charlie know via email on sailing@bowmoor.com. To get the most from this training, please consider bringing a laptop with Sailwave installed - Sailwave can be downloaded for free from https://www.sailwave.com/.

RYA Regional Training Days for Instructors

The training days are designed for Dinghy, Windsurf, and Wing instructors of all levels and will cover topics such as:
