Learn to Sail in 2023

Bowmoor Sailing will be running training courses this year for Children and Adults starting in April. Booking is now open.

Youth Stages

This is the basis of the RYA YSS (Youth Sailing Scheme), for those under the age of 16 who want to learn how to sail. Following a national syllabus, sailors learn the basics required to safely helm a dinghy, with no prior experience required. Each stage is usually run over the course of 2 days. At Bowmoor, we run stages 1 & 2 as a four day course.  Sailors normally start training at 8 yrs old.

Adult Levels

This is the basis of the NSS (National Sailing Scheme), for those 16 and over wanting to learn how to sail. This follows a similar national syllabus to the youth scheme, at a slightly faster rate with a more in depth understanding of the theory behind how sailing works. Each stage is usually run over the course of 2 days. At Bowmoor, we run levels 1 & 2 as a four day course.
