Saturday’s Byte Inlands still felt like a summer event, sunny and warm, but the variable conditions gave tricky sailing through the day. We only just held onto a fourth race as the wind eventually fell away to nothing. Rick Whitehouse (Combs SC) took top honours adding the Inland championship to his nationals win at the WPNSA earlier in the year. From the Bowmoor Byte squad, Sarah Hinnigan was 1st Byte CI and Josh Pickard 2nd CI, Josh O’Mahoney took 2nd Byte CII, and Grace O’Donnell was 3rd Byte CII. Alex Davies delivered two strong CII second places but had to drop for the final two races, and Cairen Griffiths sailed well in her first Byte competition.
Autumn was clearly here on Sunday and club racing peaked with 36 boats on a single start, by the 3rd race we had gusts over 25kts and while the gybes were tricky the reaches gave big smiles. The Wind/Wing surfers went straight out as racing ended. It was a great day on the water. Results here.
Please take note of John’s advice on boat berths, the ground is soft and wet right now, do check your boats and make sure they are properly tied down.
I also want to thank the facilities team, led by Mike, for their hard work and persistence in making our solar power supply a reality, Mike has a brief update below.
Finally, we’re getting ready for the annual membership renewal, please read Doug’s membership section and take action.
