This week’s OOD, Rachael Jenkins, ran two well timed club races on Sunday as the wind built and gusts exceeded 35 knots by 14:30. Although no boats were broken, I’m told we only had one finisher for the second race. The safety boat was also kept busy when there was more swimming than some sailors anticipated. Well done all involved!
Check your Dinghy
On Monday we had several dinghies blown over in the boat park, please keep an eye on Facebook as club members do post photos when they spot an issue. I was at the club on Tuesday and it was great to see members looking after their boats and putting in extra tie downs.
More bad weather is inevitable over the coming months, please do make sure your dinghy is properly secured and the cover is on correctly. The wind is already shredding some boat covers.
Work Party
Many thanks to Tom Whittingham, Mark Hitchmough, John Manterfield, John Murrell, David Fewings, and Steve Tanner who formed the work party on Saturday, flat packed four boats for recycling and tidied up the Carpark. This has allowed us to free additional Cruising section bays on the west edge of the carpark. |
